Three Johnson Boys

Once upon a time, three brothers named Gilbert, August and Sammy Johnson lived in Clarendon, SC. By 1880 they married and produced many offspring. Gilbert & Sophia had 10 children.  August and Clarissa had 10 children.  Sammy and Elsey or Lucy had 11 children.

Their families built and attended  New Hope Church and lived nearby.  Many of our Johnson family members were buried in the graveyard behind the Church. From this point the Johnson family spread out.  As time moved on and new generations sprang up, the families grew further apart.  Even though they started out as sisters and brothers as of 1999, 5 degrees of separation occurred.

New Hope Church is our focal point because when we search our family roots, most records and all roads lead back to New Hope.

Patricia Conyers Allen, Alvin Johnson and Cindy Burgos met at the 1997 Conyers Johnson Reunion in Richmond, VA. This marked the first meeting of the descendants from the 3 Johnson Boys.

The 2009 Conyers Johnson Reunion which will be hosted in Buffalo, NY is all about bringing us back together.
